Homage paying sessions held across Jammu Div to mark Martyrs’ Day

JAMMU: Homage paying sessions were today held across Jammu Div to mark Martyrs’ Day.

Martyrs’ Day is observed every year on January 30 to mark the martyrdom of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters who laid their life in the struggle for attaining freedom for India.

The District administrations in all the districts paid tributes to the martyrs of the Nation by observing two minutes silence.  

 At Doda

 Two minute silence was observed by the Officers and Officials who gathered in the meeting hall of Deputy Commissioner office Doda.

 Deputy Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode; ADC Doda Kishori Lal Sharma; Chief Planning Officer, Parshotam Kumar; Assistant Commissioner Revenue,  Kaiser Ahmed Bhawani and other officials of Deputy Commissioner’s office attended the tribute paying session.

Similar tribute paying sessions were held at Sub division level  where two minute silence was observed to commemorate the martyrs.

At Kishtwar

 District Administration Kishtwar headed by Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma observed two minutes silence here in the premises of DC office Complex Mini secretariat.

The Martyrs day was also observed at the Sub Division and block headquarters with scores of officers/officials marking their presence.

At Reasi

 District Administration Reasi, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, paid homage to    the freedom fighters on Saturday.

All District officers gathered at one place and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters. They also observed two minute silence as a mark of respect. Similar congregations were organised across the district.

At Ramban

To mark the death anniversary of father of nation (Bapu), Mahatma Gandhi, the Martyrs’ Day was observed across the district Ramban.  

In this regard, a two-minute silence (prayers) was observed in all government offices and other institutions of the district.

At District Administrative Complex, Ramban, after recalling the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi in independence struggle of India, Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam said that the Martyrs’ Day or ‘Shaheed Diwas’ also aims at paying respect to the freedom fighters who gave up their lives in the fight for  independence.

Similar prayers were also held at District Police Office, Ramban in the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police, Haseeb-ur –Rehman.

At Poonch

 District Administration Poonch, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, observed Martyrs’ Day and paid homage to freedom fighters.

 All the district officers of Poonch district gathered at one place and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters. Two minutes silence was observed at 11 AM as mark of respect.

Similar, prayers were reciprocated at the sub divisional levels where officers and officials observed silence for two minutes.

At Samba

On Martyrs’ Day, District Administration Samba, paid homage to the Martyrs of freedom struggle here at DC office Complex Nandini Hills.

 On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria, district officers, sectoral officials and the staff members of the DC observed two-minute silence as homage to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and brave Indians, who sacrificed their lives during the Indian freedom struggle.

Additional District Development Commissioner Rachna Sharma; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jitender Mishra, besides other district officer were also present.

 At Rajouri

District Administration Rajouri paid homage to the freedom fighters on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary which is commemorated as Martyrs Day.

 On the occasion, all the district officers of the district gathered at one place and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters. Two minutes silence from 11 AM to 11:02 AM was observed as a mark of respect. Similar prayers were held at the sub divisional levels.
