MHRD seeks report of holding regular, pending board exams

SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has asked the Education secretaries to furnish the urgent report with regard to feasibility of holding regular and pending board examinations of secondary and higher secondary classes.

Under Secretary to the Government of India (GoI), Rajesh Samplay in this regard said that he has been directed to ask education secretaries of all States and Union Territories (UT’s) to give inputs about board examinations of 10th and 12th standard in the States and UT’s

The order issued by MHRD, department of school education and literacy, a copy of which is in possession with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reads that the education secretaries have been asked to furnish the report on urgent basis.

The information sought by MHRD includes, “Whether the 10th and 12th board examinations where held and if not, how many papers where pending of both the classes.”

MHRD has also asked the respondents to inform about the proposed dates for holding the class 10th and 12th examinations, “if dates have not been finalized, what are the plans for holding exams by board or State Governments,” the GoI said. 

The department of school education and literacy of MHRD has also asked the concerned respondents to share the COVID-19 related issues being faced in conducting the exams. 

MHRD has sought report as to whether the state government has decided not to conduct board exams, “If yes, how does state government propose to do result processing.”

The GoI has further asked the educational secretaries of both state and union territories to submit suggestions regarding the issues.
