H&H Dept organises Exhibition/Awareness camp at Kupwara

KUPWARA: The Handicrafts & Handloom Department (H&H Dept) Kupwara today organised a daylong Exhibition cum Awareness camp for ‘Encouraging Cooperative towards Self Reliance’, at TRC Kupwara. 

The Camp was presided over by Deputy Director Handicrafts (Adm), Srinagar, Reyaz-ul-Haq.

Officers and experts of line departments also attended the camp, besides,   a large number of co-operative artisans and trainees participated in the awareness camp.

On the occasion detailed awareness was given to the artisans and trainees about the industrial co-operatives and their importance.

Deputy Director Handicrafts asked the trainees to take the benefit of different schemes of the Handicrafts department and adopt the handicrafts whole-heartedly so that traditional crafts of Kashmir like Carpet, Sozni, Crewal and Numdasazi are revived in district Kupwara.

He asked the trainees and artisans to take advantage of the information technology, e-Commerce, and other social media platforms as a huge number of demands/orders are posted through these social media platforms.

Trainees were asked to adopt G.I tagging and other modern techniques so that purity and fakeness is differentiated in handicrafts.

 Other officers who spoke on the occasion stressed upon the artisans to make fully functional their units and take benefit of subsidies and soft loans and other financial assistance provided under different schemes of government.

Trainees were urged not to misuse the soft loans and other funds and use these funds judiciously.

On the occasion, it was said to trainees and artisans that efforts are on to establish the raw material bank in Kupwara district so that raw material for units could easily be available at district headquarters.

The Handicrafts & Handloom department had installed different stalls of handicrafts at the site which attracted a large number of visitors.

Among others, District Information Officer, Kupwara, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Assistant Registrar Cooperative, Nazir Ahmad and officers from other line departments attended this awareness camp.
