RDD Ramban plays key role to reach out rural populace during Lockdown

RAMBAN:  Department of Rural Development and Panchyati Raj, Ramban has redoubled its efforts to combat spread of the Coronavirus and emerged as a nerve centre to reach out the rural population to implement all the directions issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan besides providing them all possible helps, relief and awareness during COVID-19 lockdown across the district.

The department has released an amount to 12.16 Crore in favour of workers of MGNREGA and various other schemes of RDD and same funds have been transferred directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts who have worked against their demands. The earned amount being helped the poor families in purchasing essential food commodities during the lock down period.

The public appreciated this prompt move of Government of Jammu and Kashmir and district administration Ramban in clearing liabilities under MGNREGA and various other schemes of department.

RDD has intensified its efforts to prevent spread of COVID-19 and   constituted 140 help group at panchayat level comprising officials and volunteers for helping and imparting awareness to rural populace besides monitoring COVID-19 cases and identifying people having travel history within as well as outside of UT of Jammu and Kashmir. 

Helping teams also conducted door to door survey in 17404 households and identified 1842 persons who have returned from other parts of UT whereas   1693 from outside the UT.

Helping groups have also played a key role in distribution of 21539 quintals food grains among the people of district Ramban under various schemes of different departments including FCS&CA department has distributed 17619 Quintals ration, 2020 Quintals, Mid Day Meal by Education department, 1055 Quintals by ICDS and 845 Quintals by PRIs in the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic situation.

RDD has imparted awareness to over 40,000 people regarding importance of social distancing besides launching an IEC awareness drive.   PRIs in coordination with Help groups also distributed 35000 pamphlets and 5000 manuals printed in Urdu Hindi and English in all the 11 blocks of district to aware the public regarding proper usages of reusable cotton masks.  The department has also distributed over 1.65 lakh face masks, 700 sanitizers besides providing medical aid and transport facility to 223 the needy people during their health emergency.
