PULWAMA: Under Green J&K Drive programme, the District Administration in collaboration with Forest department today organized a plantation drive under the theme ‘Har Gaon Hariyali’ within the premises of ADC office Tral, here.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral, S A Raina and other officers planted saplings of various plants during the plantation drive.

Speaking at the event, the ADC said that by planting more trees, it will contribute to global reforestation efforts, restoring lost forests, repairing damaged ecosystems and mitigating climate changes.

It was informed that under ‘Har Gaon Hariyali’ each and every panchayat of the district will be covered by distribution of plants/seed balls of high yielding fodder species.

This process will also promote Agro-forestry and will reduce pressure on forests on account of grazing by increasing the production of fodder outside the forest area.

Moreover, it will also involve different stakeholders’ viz., Panchayats, JFMCs, BMCs, NGOs, etc.
