Gram Swaraj Month: DC Pulwama reviews progress

PULWAMA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary today conducted a review meeting regarding the programmes being organized in conjunction with “Gram Swaraj Month” in the district.

The meeting held detailed discussions of the activity schedule here. The DC on the occasion resolved to implement the 100 point programme in letter and spirit.

Addressing the meeting, the DC briefed about the motive of starting this initiative at the mass level by the present Central Government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

He said that the 100 point programme aims to ensure grassroots penetration of various welfare measures, promote mass participation and spread awareness among the public about various government initiatives.

The DC prompted all the officers present in the meeting to collect and verify the organization of various programmes under the scheme. He said that the Government is working with a mission to empower the villages as India resides in villages, and village empowerment will ensure true progress of the nation.

Choudhary also took the opportunity to inquire about the progress of various Centrally sponsored along with the UT Government sponsored schemes for upgrading the infrastructure and other facilities in the villages and around the district.

In governance, from policy to service delivery, PRIs act as the living cell of the system, he said adding that by strengthening the PRIs, we are empowering a more effective system to truly realize the vision of Gram Swaraj.

On the occasion, the DC said a historical decision was taken to involve PRIs to formulate District Capex Budget to effectively plan and carry out development works. Funds are also being provided to the PRIs to evolve their development schemes as per the needs of the local population.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Pulwama Dr Sheikh Abdul Aziz, besides all the concerned district and sectoral officers.
