BANDIPORA: Continuing its efforts to bring administration at the door steps of people, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad today held public outreach programme as part of Gram Swaraj and weekly Block Diwas at Block office Bandipora and listened to the public for their issues, grievances, and demands.
Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Development Ab.Rashid Das, Tehsildar Bandipora, BDO Bandipora Ex. Engineers of R&B and PHE, PRIs besides the general public participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Owais said Block Diwas is an initiative of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir where government functionaries reach out to the people, interact with them, and obtain feedback from them.
He said the Government has established a free fair and corruption free system, and every individual is free to meet district administration regarding any grievance.
The DC said the ongoing Gram Swaraj Month is meant for empowerment of Panchayats and various institutions working on panchayat level and urged people to enthusiastically participate in Gram Sabhas for plan formulations.
He appreciated the efforts of PRIs and urged PRIs to formulate Community oriented plans and ensure the development of at-least one water body in every Panchayat.
Several delegations and PRIs put forth grievances related to water supply, Health Sector, electric infrastructure and Road infrastructure besides others.
The DC gave a patient hearing to the PRI members, delegations, and individuals and passed on the spot directions to the concerned officers for early redressal of their genuine grievances. He assured that the highlighted issues of public importance will be taken up with higher authorities besides all the pendency shall be reviewed thoroughly.
