GDC Kupwara organises plantation drive

DC urges for plantation of more trees

KUPWARA: The Government Degree College (GDC) Kupwara today organised a plantation drive within the college premises.

The drive was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din.

On the occasion, the DC planted some pine saplings within the college premises in presence of Principal GDC Kupwara, Dr. Mohammad Farooq Rather; ADDC Kupwara, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat.

Later, the DC visited the college Auditorium and addressed the students and the faculty and highlighted the importance of plantation in safeguarding the environment. He asked students to learn environment science apart from their regular studies and become the protectors of the environment.

He advised them to become ambassadors for carrying messages of importance of plantation to their parents, friends and neighbours and play their role in plantation of more and more trees as it is directly linked with our water resources. He added it is the duty of one and all to protect the environment and water resources for posterity.

Other speakers including Principal GDC and ADDC also spoke on the occasion.

Among others, ASP Kupwara, DFOs of Kehmil and Kamraj Forest divisions and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
