Govt bans Foundation World School for running classes above 5th standard

It’s gross violation of norms: Chief Education Officer Budgam

SRINAGAR: The government has said that a private school in Budgam district was violating its norms by running the institutions upto 9th standard while the establishments was approved to provide academic upto 5th standard only.

The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Budgam in a communiqué has said that Foundation World School was provisionally granted registration by the then CEO to run the school upto 5th class only for period of five years under SRO-123.

“During the on-spot visit of officers of education department, it was confirmed that the school is functioning upto class 9th class which is in gross violation of norms without any permission or registration in this regard,” the CEO said.

The communiqué also reads that since last one year the complaints were pouring in from different corners with the allegations of unauthorized ruining of classes from 6-9 with further allegations of violation of orders of Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee.

The CEO in a communiqué informed the principal of the school that he was asked to give the justification of running classes from class 6th to 9th. “He took the shelter of order of affiliation with Cambridge Assessment International Education.”

“In view of affiliation with Cambridge Assessment Education, the principal remained unauthorizedly running classes from 6 to 9th during these years and he approached the Director School Education Kashmir, through written representation for upgradation upto class 8th standard on June-22-2021, confirming the authorized running of classes from 6-9 during all these years,” the CEO said.

“In the backdrop of written representation, the Director School Education Kashmir has advised CEO office Budgam to conduct the inspection of the school in question with regard to the permission or otherwise for starting classes 6 to 8 and to furnish the feasibility, viability for the need of Upgradation Certificate as per the norms of SRO-123, SRO 292 and Samagra along with all required NOCs from concerned Departments,” reads the communiqué.

It also states that the matter was presently under consideration wherein, it will be examined in coming days in strict compliance to the orders of Director School Education Kashmir through designated committee of reputed officers of the department.

“In view the enumerated facts, a notice is hereby served to you wherein principal of the school is strictly impressed upon to desist from running classes from 6th onwards and to run classes only upto 5th in pursuance to the orders of this office,” reads the official communiqué.

The CEO said that the deviation of these orders shall be viewed seriously and action as warranted under relevant provisions of rules and law shall follow without further notice.
