NEW DELHI: The Centre is facing widespread criticism over its handling of farmers’ agitation even though it allowed farmers entry into Delhi on Friday.
However, farmers said entering the National Capital was not their only aim as they also wanted a concrete decision on three “anti-farmer” central farm Acts.
Meanwhile, some organisations, which entered via the Tikri border after a stand-off with the police, trickled into the Nirankari Ground in Burari (north Delhi) where the ruling Aam Aadmi Party has made “arrangements to facilitate farmers to raise their voice against BJP’s tyranny with ‘bulandi’”.
“AAP leader Raghav Chadda, while slamming the BJP for its “cruelty against farmers”, said “we will treat farmers as our guests… let the BJP do what it wants, it will pay the price”, Chadda said AAP will provide the farmers whatever they require like water and toilet facilities
Many farmers’ organisations are continuing to stay put at the Singhu border to decide the next course of action, whether to hold on at the national highway or move towards Burari.
Several farmers said that the aim was not to enter Delhi but a concrete action on the three “anti-farmer laws” which the Narendra Modi-led Centre is calling as “revolutionary decisions in favour of farmers”.
