Farmer Awareness Programme held at SKUAST-K Shalimar

SRINAGAR: The Agromet Field Unit (AMFU-Srinagar), organized Farmer Awareness Programme under Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa (GKMS) AMFU-Srinagar at Shalimar main campus, on 29th March,2019.

The programme was initiated with welcome address by Dr. F.A. AgaAssociate Director (I&P). The programme was presided over by the chief guest Prof.Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Extension, and Prof M.Saleem Mir, Director Research as Guest of honour.

They appraised the farmers about the effect of weather on the incidence of pest, disease and the productivity of crops and the factors affecting climate change. The emphasize was on the importance of Weather advisory service provided by AMFU Srinagar for enhancing the farmer’s income.

Dr. Sameera Qayoom, Nodal Officer AMFU-Srinagar presented the vote of thanks. The farmers were also acquainted with the influence of Weather on field crops, vegetables, fruits, & pest disease complex by the expert committee of Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa of AMFU-Srinagar.

On this occasion more than 140 farmers from Srinagar and Ganderbal districts attended the program and were registered on farmer’s portal (www.farmers.gov.in). for receiving SMS on Agromet Advisory Services (AAS).
