27 members of 3 Budgam patients quarantined

BUDGAM: Families of all three positive COVID-19 patients who belong to three different localities of Budgam district were put under quarantine at different hospitals in Srinagar and Budgam districts on Sunday.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), 27 family members including relatives of three positive COVID-19 patients were put under quarantine at Srinagar and Budgam hospitals.

Three COVID-19 patients from three different localities of Budgam were tested positive on Saturday and Sunday respectively. One among them who belongs to Wathura locality of Chadoora was tested positive on Saturday while the other two who were tested positive on Sunday belong to Trajbal and Kanidajan localities of Charar-i-Sharief.

Sub-divisional Magistrate, Chadoora, Prince Noor ul Hameed said that nine persons including family member and some relatives of positive COVID-19 patient from Chadoora were shifted to quarantine centre established at JLNM hospital Rainawari in Srinagar.

He said that they were also tracing other persons who may have come in contact with the COVID-19 patient in Chadoora.

Block Medical Officer, Charar-i-Sharief, Mastoora Iqbal Bhat said that a total of 18 persons including family members and relatives of both COVID-19 patients from Charar-i-Sharief have been shifted to quarantine centre established at Industrial Estate Rangreth.  

She also said that some friends of these patients have been put under quarantine at Sub District Hospital Charar-i-sharief.

Both the patients from Charar-i-Sharief aged about 23 and 24 respectively have travel history within the country and returned to the valley on March 20.

An official said that after they developed some symptoms related to COVID-19, they approached SDH Charar-i-Sharief. “They were immediately shifted to CD hospital in Srinagar for testing purpose. Their samples were collected on the same day and today the reports came positive,” he said.

Officials said that a team of doctors visited all three villages in Budgam and collected details about the persons who may have come in contact with these COVID-19 patients.
