CHANDIGARH: Exit polls for Bihar elections have predicted a Mahagathbandhan government of the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance as the state completes its third phase of elections.
Most exit polls—Republic TV Jan Ki Baat, Times Now, and ABP News—show a close race between the two major alliances, the National Democratic Alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (United) and the Grand Coalition of the Congress and the RJD, although they also gave the Mahagathbandhan a slight edge.
Both India Today-Axis My India and Today’s Chanakya gave the Mahagathbandhan a clear win. India Today gave the Mahagathbandhan 139-161 seats against NDA’s 69-91.
Today’s Chanakya was the only exit poll to give a landslide majority to Mahagathbandhan with 180 seats against NDA’s 55. It also gives the RJD-Congress alliance 44 per cent vote share, BJP-JDU+ 34 per cent and others 22 per cent.
Halfway mark in the 243-seat assembly is 122.
Bihar completed its last phase of voting on Saturday. Votes will be counted on November 10.
