‘Education key to empowering nations,’ says Dy Mayor

Srinagar: Deputy Mayor Srinagar Shiekh Mohammad Imran on Sunday visited several areas of Srinagar city. He said education is the key to empowering nations in the world.

Imran was accompanied by the ward offices and other officials. Imran visited the Primary Health Centre and Government Schools in Arabal Harwan where he inspected the various undergoing works. He said there is a need for smart and model schools in Srinagar city areas.

Where interacting with students and faculty at Government Boys Secondary School Harwan, he assured them to provide every possible help from the government to upgrade the infrastructure of the school.

“The condition of government schools in several areas is worst; I visited few schools in Shalimar and Harwan and will make a DPR for their up gradation of these schools,” he said.

He said digital methods can make a qualitative difference to education. The Government sector should pitch in to upgrade the schools, Imran said adding that we need smart and model schools in every ward of the city.

“Model schools use all interactive modules like videos and presentations. Visually attractive methods of teaching will become appealing to students,” he said.

In the statement, Dy Mayor said the possibilities or advantages of smart schools are endless. Although adopting such a new concept might be a tough decision for many, but the technology can create a new opening for the education sector,” he said.

Imran visited the Primary Health Centre in Arbal Harwan and inspected various works being undertaken there. He also redressed on spot public grievances regarding Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, Irrigation & Flood control.

“I have asked the concerned department to ensure the redressal of grievances on a fast track basis so that people will not suffer anymore,” Imran said adding that there would be no compromise regarding deficiency of basic facilities.
