DLSA Gbl observes ‘National Consumer Rights Day’

GANDERBAL: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal under the action plan of J&K Legal Services Authority today observed “National Consumer Rights Day” at District Court Complex Ganderbal.

The programme was organised under the guidance and directions of Tabasum, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.

Students from Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, CUK, Tullamulla Ganderbal, Staff Members and PLVs attended the programme.

Advocate Abid Jeelani appointed as a resource person appraised the gathering about the importance of the Consumer day and Rights of the Consumers.

He stated that the customer/ Consumer is the king of the market. The market revolves around this principle. He also mentioned that no one is more powerful than a consumer who is aware of their rights. 

Jeelani said that consumers are protected against unfair trade practices like hoarding, fake advertisement and many other fake offers. He further stated about rights of consumers such as, Right to Safety, Right to Information, Right to Choose, Right to Heard, Right to Seek Redressal, and Right to Consumer Education.

Moreover, he highlighted the theme of Consumer Day 2021, “Tackling Plastic Pollution”. He mentioned that plastic pollution is one of the most pressing issues facing our planet and also highlighted the importance of controlling the use of plastics. 

The Advocate also made certain suggestions of developing a habit of avoiding use of plastic from our homes and also requested to make Central University of Kashmir and District Court Complex, Ganderbal as “No Plastic Zone”. 

He also stressed that it is a duty of the consumers to reduce the use of plastic to avoid plastic pollution so as to make our environment free from plastic pollution.
