Polytechnic College to be another Wellness Centre: DM Anantnag

Distributes free rice bags among AAY families

ANANTANG:   District Magistrate, Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar, today visited Polytechnic College at Larkopora to augment capacity for wellness centres in the district in view of the COVID – 19 pandemic.

He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh.

The DM directed the principal of the college to ensure cleanliness in and around the premises and ready the institution for use as a wellness centre. 

Briefing the media on the occasion, the DM said that district administration is geared up to contain COVID – 19 in the district. He said all the basic amenities are being ensured at the quarantine centres, adding that essentials are being supplied to the residents of the twin red zones of Cheki Wangund and Nowgam Shangus.

He appealed people to stay home and observing social distancing, as per the advisories and cautioned against rumour mongering.

Earlier, the district magistrate gave away sacks of 5 KGs per soul free rice to AAY, PHH & BPL families of Anantnag town. He also inaugurated refilling of LPG cylinders under PMUY scheme for which cost of refill has been credited into bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
