District Development Plan 2021-22 for Poonch reviewed

Institutional involvement of PRIs in planning process hallmark of development: Dr Shahid

POONCH: The annual District Plan covering developmental and socio-economic sectors, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Infrastructure development and social sectors was reviewed in a meeting convened here today.

The plan was formulated after detailed deliberations with the District Development Council which suggested further measures in different sectors.

The plan includes 66.86 Cr Area Development Grant at the disposal of PRIs viz Rs. 53.36 Cr at Panchayat level, Rs. 3.50 Cr Block Development Council and Rs. 10 Cr for District Development Council. Other components of the annual plan include ₹ 125 Cr under Jal Jeevan Mission for piped water connectivity to households. Other sectoral outlays for the financial year 2021-22 include ₹ 10.54 Cr in NRLM, Rs. 144 Cr in PMAY, Rs. 102 Cr in MGNREGA, Rs.1.80 Cr in irrigation, Rs. 31.28 Cr in roads, Rs. 2.38 Cr in Elementary education, Rs. 27.64 Cr in SAMAGRA, Rs.12.56 Cr in PHE , Rs. 2.72 Cr in Health, Rs. 12.32 Cr in ICDS and Rs. 3.36 Cr in MDM among other sectors. Meanwhile additional grant to District Development Council approved beyond the district plan includes ₹ 10 Cr for youth centric activities and infrastructure, ₹ 10 Cr for infrastructure development in tribal areas and ₹ 2.5 Cr for smart schools.

Secretary, Tribal Affairs, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who’s also Secretary In-charge for developmental works and other related matters for District Poonch held a detailed consultative meeting with District Development Council followed by comprehensive discussion with District and sectoral officers.

In view of several demands projected by DDC members and BDC Chairpersons Dr Shahid asked Jal Shakti Deptt for assessing need for revising DPRs to ensure no household is left uncovered, formulation of DPR for trauma hospital, rural connectivity proposals and assured early intervention on completion of Mini Secretariat at Poonch as well as expeditious release of funds for various projects. He reiterated the vision of Lt Governor Sh Manoj Sinha for effective public outreach and public grievance redressal to be reflected in governance and developmental systems.

Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Poonch Inder Jeet made a detailed presentation about sectoral outlays, finalisation of works programme, consultation with District and Block Development Council, infrastructure gaps and other issues. He informed about several initiatives proposed in essential services infrastructure, social services, centrally sponsored schemes and other sectors.

Director Tribal Affairs, SSP Poonch, Superintending Engineers, District and sectoral officers were present in the meeting.
