SRINAGAR: The Home Ministry today said the deployment of paramilitary forces in Jammu and Kashmir was based on the security situations and requirements of rotation, and that such things are not discussed in the public domain.

As per the sources in the ministry, they have said that, “100 companies (10,000 personnel) of central forces had been ordered for deployment about a week ago and they which are in the process of reaching their destinations”.

Furthermore the sources also said that, “based on the assessment of the internal security situation, training requirements, the need for paramilitary troops to be rotated for rest and recuperation, induction and de-induction of central forces is a continuous and dynamic process,” the sources said.

Besides the sources added that, “it has never been the practice to discuss in the public domain the details of deployment and movement of paramilitary forces deployed in a particular theatre”.

However, reacting to the development of Air Force and Army being on high alert, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that putting of Army and Air force on high alert is about something very different and not about article 35A or delimitation.

Taking on social networking site Omar Abdullah tweeted that, “what “on-going situation” in Kashmir would require the army and the Air Force to be put on alert? This isn’t about 35A or delimitation. This sort of alert, if actually issued, would be about something very different.”

Earlier, reports said that in view of the on-going situation in Kashmir valley, Government has put the Air Force and the Army on high operational alert. Reports said that government also has pressed Indian Air Force aircraft for rapid induction of CRPF and other paramilitary troops into Kashmir.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) led by Amit Shah, has said that deployment of paramilitary forces in Jammu and Kashmir is based on an assessment of internal security situation and training requirements.

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir government Friday asked Amarnath Pilgrims and tourists to curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible.
