Role of Persian language in fostering cultural linkages

Under Learning Outcome-Based Curriculum Framework (LOCF)

HANDWARA: The Department of Persian organized a seminar on the “Role of Persian Language in Fostering Cultural Linkages (under LOCF)” in the indoor stadium of the college.  The event was attended by an array of reputed academics, civil society activists and students of the college.

Seminar Coordinator, Prof. Syed Afzal, briefly highlighted the importance of the seminar at a time when cultural identities are impacting the nature of geopolitics across the globe.

Prof. G N Pala, principal of the host institution, in his welcome address, discussed threadbare the raison d’etre of the LOCF seminar in Persian. He stressed that in order to make higher education responsive to the needs of society; it demands that the curriculum across disciplines at UG level should be oriented towards increasing the knowledge base in core areas, sharpening skills in the contingent professional areas and enhancing the general competence of the students.

Dr. Abid Gulzar, Assistant Professor in Persian at the CCAS (Kashmir University) also spoke on the occasion.

The Chief Guest on the occasion, Prof G N Khaki, Director of the Centre for Sheikh ul Aalam Chair in Kashmir University, mesmerized the audience with his penetrating eloquence and scholarly wisdom. He contextualized the importance of reimagining past and preserving spiritual ethos by popularizing Oriental languages, art and literature – including Persian.

 The first session of the seminar concluded with vote of thanks presented by Dr. Rehana Abdullah, HoD English.

 In the technical session of the seminar, practical teaching-learning issues (under LOCF) in Persian language were discussed by a panel of subject experts with students.
