SHOPIAN: The District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today convened a meeting of department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) with regard to re-verification of BPL/AAY cards at Mini-Secretariat Arhama, here.
Speaking on the occasion DDC emphasised upon the officers to ensure that benefits of the BPL/AAY scheme are availed by the targeted population and the ration cards issued under this category reach to the concerned people only.
He also impressed that the ration cards should be issued to the deserving and downtrodden people. He directed Tehsildars to ensure verification of ration cards carefully with the assistance of patwaris and submit the report in this regard as soon as possible.
He said it is their responsibility to finalize the list of AAY in their respective areas after proper verification and said that the scheme targets the poor and vulnerable sections of the society including landless laborers marginal farmers and wage earners of the unorganized sections of the economy.
Among others the meeting was attended by SDM, ACR, Tehsildars and others concerned.
