DDC Pulwama reviews performance of Banks, implementation of self-employment schemes

PULWAMA: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary today reviewed the performance of Banks in deposits, advances, CD Ratio, and achievement under Annual Credit Plan for Quarter ending September 2021, besides the implementation of self-employment schemes during the District Level Review Committee/District Consultative Committee (DLRC/DCC) meeting here.

During the meeting, the DDC took an extensive review of Government Sponsored Schemes with Special focus on KCC, MUMKIN, PMEGP, JKREGP, NRLM, MSME etc.

He also reviewed the progress under various Govt. Sponsored and Social Security Schemes.

The LDM informed that Banks operating in the district have deployed a total credit of Rs 3820 crore, and total deposit of Rs 3916 crores has been mobilized by them. The CD ratio at the end of Q2 of 2021-22 stands at 97 percent.

Against the total target of Rs 2661.64 crores and physical target of 94828 beneficiaries fixed in the credit plan of 2021-22 for priority and non-priority sectors respectively, banks have recorded an amount of Rs 1448 crores to 35689 beneficiaries, thereby achieving the financial targets by 54.40 percent and physical targets by 37.63 percent till September ending.

The DDC asked all Sponsoring Agencies and Banks to spread awareness among people about various Self-employment Schemes launched by the Government and motivate them to avail the benefits of the same for generating self-employment opportunities in the district.

Choudhary asked the concerned to devise a mechanism in segregation of loan cases and sponsored an adequate share to the banks other than J&K Bank. While District Officers were asked to cross check the data with due diligence before submitting it to higher authorities for yielding better results. He also directed to conduct a pre PLP exercise to benchmark the previous and current data.

He asked all the line departments to increase their sponsorship of loan cases and at the same time directed all the Banks to clear the pending cases sponsored by different Govt. Departments/Agencies at the earliest and give a boost to lending, particularly under Agriculture & Allied activities, MSME, Housing and Education Sectors, to achieve a healthy CD ratio.

Among others the meeting was attended by Lead District Manager (LDM), DDM NABARD, representatives from RBI and line departments, District Coordinators of J&K Bank, SBI, PNB, along with representatives of other Banks and concerned departments.
