DC Kupwara reviews Road Safety measures in the district

Asks officers to streamline traffic management

KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today chaired a meeting of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) to review the measures taken for safe roads in the district.

The meeting was informed that the field engineers have already been deployed for a Road Safety Audit by R&B and Beacon Authorities besides, Road signages and other traffic measures have been taken across the district.

It was informed that 21 black spots have been identified in the district and will be fixed with proper safety measures and signages. The provision for erection of crash barriers has been kept in construction of new roads and 11 roads with aggregate length of 1650 km have already been proposed for installation of crash barriers.

Meanwhile, the DC directed the concerned officers to ensure Road Safety Audit of all roads of the district, besides, fixing road signages, speed limits at required places. He asked them to coordinate in streamlining the traffic management in the district.

The DC also directed the concerned to regulate movement of loaded trucks coming to and fro in the district and specify separate time to ensure hassle free movement of school children and commuters.

ADDC Kupwara, ADC, ARTO Kupwara, Executive Engineer R&B Kupwara and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
