DDC Kupwara asks Jal Shakti to ensure timely completion of projects

KUPWARA: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg today asked Engineers of Jal Shakti Department (PHE, I&FC) to strictly follow an already fixed timeline for completion of ongoing projects.

He said action under rules shall be initiated against those engineers who fail to meet the target while addressing a meeting of engineers of PHE and I&FC to review the pace of progress under the Languishing Projects scheme.

The meeting was informed that 72 water supply projects have been taken in hand at an approved cost of Rs.188.37 crore in Kupwara, Handwara and Tangdar PHE Divisions.

It was also informed that Rs.6.22 crore has been incurred on the execution of these schemes upto last month.

It was given out that 17 Irrigation schemes have been taken up at a cost of Rs.66.31 crore in Kupwara and Handwara Irrigation divisions; of which, Rs.9.56 crore have been incurred so far.

The Superintendent Engineer, Jal Shakti Department apprised the DDC about the overall performance of the department and other bottlenecks being faced during the execution of the works.

The DDC stressed upon the engineers to speed up the pace of work and ensure that the set targets are achieved well in time.

Among others, Joint Director Planning, Abdul Majeed, Superintendent Engineer Jal Shakti Department, Executive Engineers of PHE Handwara and Kupwara division and I&FC besides other concerned were present in the meeting.
