Modalities for implementation of PMMSY reviewed at Kulgam

KULGAM: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today convened a meeting of concerned officers to discuss the modalities for implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojna (PMMSY) scheme, here.

At the outset, Assistant Director Fisheries informed the meeting that PMMSY scheme is a flagship programme launched with the purpose to augment the fish production, create employment avenues and welfare of the fishers and fish farmers.

He said the scheme included the establishment of Fish Raceways and Ponds, Trout Hatcheries, Housing and Insurance for fishers and Trout Feed Mills. 

On the occasion, a draw of lots was conducted and the final beneficiary list was formulated for implementation that included 24 low cost Houses, 23 Trout Raceways, Insurance provision for 345 fishermen, 11 Boats and 01 Trout Hatchery for the current year 2020-21 under Private sector.

The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer Jal Shakti, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Agriculture Officer, District Lead Bank Manager, District Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and progressive Fish Farmers of the district.
