GANDERBAL: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today chaired a meeting of Returning Officers (ROs), Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and Nodal Officers to review the arrangements for phase first and second of upcoming District Development Council (DDC) and Panchayat by-elections in the district.
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on security arrangements, arrangements at Distribution/Collection center including lighting, installation of shyamyanas, seating, heating, deployment of staff for Collection/Distribution of poll material, parking of vehicles and deployment of Micro Observers besides other arrangements.
The meeting also discussed the arrangements for counting of Panch and Sarpanch votes at ARO locations, heating arrangements at Polling Centers, transfer of Polled Ballot Boxes of DDC from Collection Center to strong room besides safe custody of Election Material for 6 months.
In the first and second phase, the elections in Ganderbal district will be held in block Gund and Kangan respectively.
The DPEO briefed the ROs/AROs about the colour coding of Ballot Paper and their safe custody after printing till its distribution among poll party.
During the meeting the DPEO issued necessary instructions to the concerned and sought cooperation for smooth, free and fair conduct of elections in the district.
The meeting was attended by SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Dy. DEO, ACD, ROs and AROs of Phase-I and II besides Election Observer.
