Chairman, DDC B’gam takes review of ongoing works/ projects in the district

BUDGAM: The Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Khan today convened a meeting to review the status of tendering, estimation and approvals of the works/projects presently under execution through different departments/agencies pertaining to the sectors of Jal Shakti, KPDCL, RDD, R&B and I&FC in the district.

The meeting was apprised that tendering process of most of the works pertaining to PHE, R&B, I&FC is in the final phase, barring some hiccups, as some contractors though getting allotment show less response in executing the allotted works causing inconvenience in timely completion of the said works.

With regard to other sectors particularly RDD it was given out that under the District Development Plan, out of 918 works, 662 through PRIs, 148 from BDC and 108 from DDCs marked under priority tag, will be taken up phase wise. Estimation and approval process of these works have been taken on war footing.

Similarly, under the PDD sector, the DDC was apprised that focus and emphasis is on improvement of HT, LT lines, particularly in rural areas as inclement weather and unprecedented winds always cause damage to this transmission system. In addition 2 grid stations are being upgraded and capacity enhanced by adding high capacity transformers.

Speaking on the occasion, Khan urged the officers to execute and complete the work targets before the commencement of winter period. ‘We all have to double our efforts and utilize all resources in rationalizing our targets’, the DDC added.

He said the council members along with Chairman; Dy. Chairman shall always stand at the forefront when there is interest of common people involved. He also said that being public representatives, the council always needs to be taken into confidence while executing and drafting any action plan of works relating to all sectors.

The meeting among others was also attended by ACD, Ex. Engineers of Jal Shakti, RDD, KPDCL, DDEO and other concerned.
