DEO B’la inspects CCs, takes stock of arrangements

BARAMULLA: The District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today inspected Counting Centres (CCs) established in the district.

He also chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of counting of votes scheduled on 22 December, 2020.

On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on the subject was held during which it was informed that administration has established three counting centres in the district at ITI Pattan, SKUAST College Wadoora Sopore and Govt Degree College for Boys Baramulla.

It was also informed that for 14 DDC constituencies in district Baramulla, there were 151 candidates in fray for which polling was scheduled to be held in eight phases. Polling in seven phases has already been completed whereas for the final phase, the election is scheduled on 19 December.

Speaking on the occasion, the DEO emphasized upon the concerned authorities to ensure that the counting of votes is conducted smoothly.

He directed the concerned officers to ensure adequate heating, lighting and other necessary arrangements so that the staff associated with the process may not face any inconvenience.

Moreover, the DEO exhorted for strict adherence to all the requisite COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines to avert any kind of eventuality.
