BARAMULLA: In continuation to its efforts to raise awareness regarding various women centric legislations, ICDS Project Baramulla today organized a daylong seminar under the ambitious ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)’ programme here at Govt Degree College Sopore.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
On the occasion, various women speakers from different walks of life highlighted the importance of educating and securing a girl child and exhorted upon strict enforcement of relevant rules and regulations.
A special mushaira in memory of renowned educationist Atiqa Bano, was also organised in which prominent women poetess participated and paid homage to her besides highlighting her contributions.
The DC on the occasion complimented the participants and said that effective implementation of BBBP for empowering the girls has always remained the top most priority of district administration.
He said that various initiatives have been taken for educating and empowering a girl child besides terming them at par with boys in every respect.
The Program Officer, in his address highlighted the objectives of the programme and informed that several activities are being carried out to educate and create awareness pertaining to women empowerment.
He said that various useful items including Tablets were distributed among the meritorious girl students in the previously organized functions adding that such initiatives are being taken to felicitate the best performing girl students.
Meanwhile, DC distributes some vital and useful items/kits among the meritorious girl students and other women for their felicitation.
Programme Officer ICDS Baramulla, ADC Sopore, BDC Chairperson, officers of various departments, prominent stakeholders besides a huge gathering of girl students attended the event.
