DC B’la chairs meeting to review implementation of JJM

BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), a centrally sponsored programme to provide potable drinking water to every rural household.

On the occasion, a thorough discussion on the subject was held wherein it was informed that an action plan of Rs 8.8 crore has been approved to effectively implement the mission. It was also given out that district administration has set December 2021 as the timeline to achieve the target.

At national level, the programme aims to provide every household safe and adequate drinking water supply by 2024.

Speaking on the occasion, DC exhorted upon the concerned authorities to realise the mission well before the set timeline and assured every kind of administrative and other necessary support on the part of district administration.

He also directed to identify the uncovered govt. institutions including school/hospital buildings, ICDS centres, Panchayat Ghars etc so that appropriate measures are taken to cover them under JJM.

Meanwhile, various issues and bottlenecks were comprehensively discussed during the meeting wherein the concerned officers sought the timely disposal of these impediments so that the target is achieved within the stipulated timeframe.

The DC assured that every possibility shall be explored to redress the identified issues in a time bound manner.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, JDP, SE Jal Shakti department, district and sectoral officers besides other concerned functionaries.
