DC Bandipora inspects ongoing works, holds public outreach program at Block Bankoot

BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday inspected various ongoing works and participated in public outreach program at Bankoot and interacted with the people to assess the get the first hand account of the public grievances.

DC Bandipora was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Rahul Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir and District Officers of various departments besides executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, PDD and R&B.

More than two dozen delegations besides scores of individuals called on the Deputy Commissioner and apprised him about the problems faced by them in day to day life including that of roads, water, electricity, Healthcare services, Education, Agriculture, Irrigation, Sports and other individual issues. The delegations include representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions.

DC Bandipora gave patient hearing to the delegations and  passed on-spot directions for redressal of their grievances.  While interacting with the people, DC Bandipora said conducting of public outreach programmes provides an important feedback for the government to tailor its interventions for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the corridors of power in secretariat or other government offices.

He said that public outreach programmes are an important part of effective governance and it takes every step to reach out to the people in their own localities. Dr Owais said that the grievances registered by the people are being tracked personally and the grievance redressal mechanism is being monitored by the government. District Development Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais said all the developmental activities are being monitored and it is being ensured that the ongoing works are completed on time.

He also appealed the general public of the district that on every day except on Wednesday and Sunday, these public hearings will be continued not only within the premises of DC office but also in all the District and Sectoral offices and on every consecutive Wednesday.

Later the Deputy Commissioner distributed sports kits and domicile certificates among the beneficiaries. He also walked on foot to reach the remote Tangath village to meet  the people and asses their developmental needs. The locals thanked the DC Bandipora for reaching out to them at their door steps and put forward their demands with regard to Sadak, Pani and Bijli. Later DC Bandipora also inspected ongoing works on Water Supply Scheme Bonkoot .

He was informed that work is in progress and the same shall be completed by the end of this year. DC Bandipora stressed on the officers to expedite the work to meet the deadline.
