Elaborate arrangements in place on civil, admin front: SSP Srinagar

SRINAGAR): Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Ajaz Asad on Thursday said the annual Amarnath pilgrimage 2021 would be the largest religious pilgrimage, scheduled to begin from June 28 this year.

“This year’s annual Amarnath pilgrimage would certainly be the largest religious pilgrimage. We will ensure that pilgrims would not face any difficulty so far as accommodation is concerned,” DC Srinagar told reporters during his visit to Panthachowk to review the yatra arrangements, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He said that Amarnath pilgrims would be accommodated at Panthchowk while arrangements in this direction have almost completed.

Flanked by SSP Srinagar, Sandeep Chaudhary, DC Srinagar also said there is need for capacity enhancement at Panthchowk and the administration is looking for additional land to accommodate more Amarnath yatris.

“We have sufficient space but there is a need for capacity enhancement at Panthachowk, we are also looking for additional land so as to ensure yatris does not face any difficulty,” Asad added.

The Jammu and Kashmir government cancelled annual Amarnath yatra last year amid COVID-19 outbreak.  The pilgrimage was already cut short by 15 days.

Meanwhile SSP Srinagar, Sandeep Chaudhary said elaborate arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth pilgrimage.

“DC Srinagar and I visited Panthachowk to review Amarnath yatra arrangements, elaborate arrangements have been put in place. There would be adequate arrangements for yatris on both civil and security front,” SSP told reporters.
