DC Shopian reviews implementation of FRA, measures for disposal of cases

SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, today chaired a meeting at Mini Secretariat Arhama here to review the implementation of Forest Rights Act (FRA) and related measures for expeditious disposal of cases.

The DC directed Divisional Forest Officer, Shopian for disposal of all pending cases under the Act.

He emphasised for adopting a coordinated approach for its effective implementation and for timely verification to ensure speedy disposal of cases submitted for in this regard.

The meeting discussed in detail the measures to be taken to dispose-off the claims, ensure effective working of the committee constituted under FRA, mapping of the Forest areas and other issues.

Vaishya impressed upon the Committee members to ensure thorough verification of the claims as per guidelines and for submitting the claims received so far to DLCs after verification.

On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on different aspects of the Act was held wherein the concerned officers of Forest, Revenue and Rural Development Department briefed the DC about the current status and other related necessities with regard to its implementation at grassroots level.

 Additional District Magistrate, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Divisional Forest Officer, Assistant Commissioner, Panchayat, Block Development Officers and other concerned were present in the meeting.
