Need of the hour is to get Vaccinated
SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today said that although there are less number of cases in the district which is quite encouraging, but we cannot take risk of lowering the guard as it may prove detrimental till the pandemic is rooted out.
Giving details during a press briefing held here, the DC said that the recovery rate has increased to 98.54 percent, the number of total positive cases recorded in the district is 22, among whom 2 are under treatment at DH Shopian while 15 are in home isolation, 5 are outside the district.
He said the positivity rate has significantly come down to 0.57percent and the number of recovered patients is also significantly increasing on a daily basis.
By adhering strictly to the SOPs and other guidelines issued by the Administration off and on, the district witnessed 59 deaths since the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic, Vaishya said.
He added that all the health workers and other concerned have been directed to swing into action and also act swiftly on utilizing the maximum capacity for testing and vaccination of the 18+ age group for which various teams at various sites are in full swing to achieve the required target well on time.
He said that to cover the required target of the above 18 age group, the process is in its full form and going on successfully. He stressed on enforcing containment measures at all levels in all the areas to stop the spread of Covid infection completely.
The DC said that to bring down the positivity rate in the district, the District Administration has geared up the health functionaries and other concerned people who are working with dedication to curb the Covid-19 disease.
People must follow Covid Appropriate behaviour, make use of wearing masks, maintain social distancing, wash hands with soap,
proper sanitization, keep the environment neat and clean and also to adhere to other SOPs and guidelines.
The DC urged people to support District Administration in Vaccination Drive, Contact Tracing and protecting at-risk population to cover the cent percent coverage of 18+ age group also like above 45 years of age group done successfully.
He appreciated the health department and others who performed best and worked round the clock with great dedication, zest and zeal for exceptional work in Covid management.
DC said that more and more awareness is being generated among the masses for extensive & vibrant campaign so that
people will come forward and get themselves vaccinated at their nearest vaccinated sites to get rid of the disease.
He added that Covid Task Force and other concerned have been directed to swing into action and also act swiftly on utilizing the maximum capacity for testing and vaccination.
