DC Shopian convenes meeting of Ulemas ahead of Eid-Ul-Adha

SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today convened a meeting of Ulemas of the district in view of the forthcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival and mandatory prayers to be performed on the eve.

The DC sought the cooperation of Ulemas of all the Masjids including Jamia Masjid, Shopian, Ziyarat-Shareef Pinjoora and Ziyarat-Shareef Arhama Shopian in the implementation of Covid Safety protocols during Eid-ul-Adha.

While speaking on the occasion, the DC appealed to the Ulemas for making sure that the Eid prayers are performed by the public at their respective homes keeping in view the prediction of the 3rd wave of Covid-19 pandemic, besides to avoid the spread of the coronavirus to save precious lives.

Vaishya appreciated the Ulemas for their cooperation and support and exhorted upon them to make sure that SOPs and other guidelines including wearing of masks, maintaining of social distancing, proper sanitization, and hand washing are adhered to in letter and spirit.

He added that the need of the hour is to follow all the guidelines including unnecessary venturing outside and avoid the gatherings at all public, religious places and Eidgahs, keeping in view the 3rd wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

He once again appealed to Ulemas to sensitise the public to offer Eid prayers at their respective homes instead of Masjids and Eidgahs and also make announcements in masjids for the same for information of the general public.

The meeting among others was attended by Tehsildar Shopian, Bilal Ahmed, Ulemas of Shopian District and other concerned officers.
