DC Ramban reviews progress of banking sector

‘District records 6.95% increase in CD ratio’

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat today directed the Bankers to focus on priority sector and achieve the targets under income generating schemes as he was reviewing the performance of Banks at the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting.

The meeting was informed that banks have expended Rs. 215.68 crore  on the priority sector against a target of Rs 566 crore i,e 38% of  ACP 2022-23 ending  March 2023 and Rs 293 crore under Non-Priority Sector against the target of Rs 65 crore which is 448%.  

The Deputy Commissioner directed the LDM and Cluster Head of banks to fix the responsibility of concerned bankers for not achieving the targets under priority sector. He also directed the officers of sponsoring departments to saturate in sponsorship to provide the benefits of different employment oriented schemes to the youth of the district.  

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized on timely disbursement of loan cases, besides implementing the youth and employment-oriented schemes under different segments of priority sector schemes like PMEGP, and CCS for Artisans of Handicraft and Handloom sector, PMWMS, MUMKIN, JK REGP, TEJASWINI, Agriculture, MSME, Housing, and Education in the district.  

After detailed deliberations on achievements under different sectors, the DC directed    Bankers and Officers of line departments to extend the banking facilities to uncovered areas by using digital modes of banking like ATM service besides sensitizing the people about schemes pertaining to the banking sector.  

The meeting was attended by the CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, GM DIC Ravinder Anand, Lead District Manager, Abdul Rashid Sofi, Cluster Head JK Bank Parvez Mir, Director RSETI, Vikramjit Singh, DDM NABARD, Arushi Sharma, CHO Anil Gorka, AD Fisheries Fayaz Ahmed,   Bankers and various senior officers. 

The Deputy Commissioner also took stock of the bank-wise deposits, advances, and the CD Ratio targets.  It was informed in the meeting that the CD Ratio registered an increase of 6.95% and stood at 60.35%, till March 31, 2022.

Asking the Bankers and officers of line departments to come up with a holistic plan for generating job opportunities by promoting local products and tourism activities in the district, the DC said Banks should play a key role to boost the economy of district which is mainly based on agricultural sector by promoting production of agro based products like Honey, Anardana and Quince.   

Highlighting the importance of IEC activities in implementing various job oriented schemes, the DC advised the LDM and other Departments to prepare a calendar of activity for organizing awareness programmes besides using social media platforms for disseminating information about their schemes, especially pertaining to youth and women folk.  

The DC also directed Director RSETI to complete all coddle formalities and start construction work of RSETI building on allotted land at Phalty to provide quality training to youth for facilitating them about job orientation. Director RSETI informed us that a training batch for Tourist Guide will be starting soon at Batote.
