Resolves bottlenecks hampering road projects

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary today chaired a meeting to review the financial and physical achievements registered under PWD, and PMGSY sectors in the district.

Reviewing the progress of PWD (R&B), Division Ramban and Banihal, the Deputy Commissioner directed the stakeholder departments to work in close coordination to resolve the local issues hindering the pace of progress on developmental projects of public interest.

He directed the concerned Executive Engineers to take help from concerned SDMs and other administrative officers to resolve bottlenecks which impact the execution of work, especially developmental projects of social sector as reflected in 14 indicators of Aspirational Block.

 The Deputy Commissioner further asked stakeholders to conduct joint inspection of projects to take decision on-the-spot to resolve the issues, if any.  He also directed both the departments to submit a detailed report of big projects sanctioned and taken up under Centrally Sponsored and other schemes of their respective sectors.

Reviewing the status of the ongoing road projects, the Deputy Commissioner asked the DFOs to personally monitor the forest clearance issues pertaining to the road and other social sector projects.  He directed the executing agencies to ensure sustainable development of the district while planning and conducting surveys of developmental projects to preserve our forests and other natural resources and heritage of the district. 

Reviewing the completion of developmental projects, the Deputy Commissioner directed all the executing agencies to achieve cent pecent both physical and financial targets against given targets. 

Taking stock of progress on developmental works of UT Capex, District Capex, Area Development Fund of DDC, BDC and PRIs, and other schemes, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to focus on completion of works well in time to achieve fixed targets.

Earlier, giving a PowerPoint presentation, the Executive Engineer PWD (R&B),Ramban informed the meeting that as many as 65 roads of 149 km are being executed in the Ramban Division, besides work on  major building projects of crores of rupees is going on in division including  building of Government Higher Secondary School, Thetharka, Food Storage Godown  building at Sangaldan, Construction of 300 mtr span Pre-stressed Double Lane (Balance Cantilever) Motorable Bridge over River Chenab, construction of Multi-Storey Bus stand at Ramban, construction of office Building-cum-car parking at Municipal Council, Ramban, Community Hall at Ward No 05 Ramban, Construction of Bal Ashram and  Nari Niketan Building at Kanga, Ramban , construction of officers’ residential quarter at Maitra Ramban, construction of Transit Accommodation and facilities for Tribal population at Dalwas, construction of Hostel at Government Polytechnic at Chanderkote, Ramban,  restoration of Ghoda Gali, Gool, construction of 100-  bedded ST Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel at Ramban, construction of office-cum-Laboratory Building in Divisional office of Pollution Control Committee at Maitra, Ramban, Development of Tulip Garden at Sanasar, and Development of Rani Talab at Batote, Winter preparedness.

Briefing about Phase-I, II and III of PMGSY Ramban, the Executive Engineer PMGSY informed that out of total 73 sanctioned projects including bridges, 48 projects have been completed, while work on the rest of the projects is going on in full swing.

The Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division Banihal also apprised the meeting about progress on road and other infrastructural projects being executed under PWD and PMGSY sectors.
