RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today convened a meeting through virtual mode to discuss with the stakeholder departments regarding Jal Shakti Abhiyan-Catch the Rain 2023- Source sustainability for drinking water in respect of district Ramban.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that various steps and proactive measures need to be taken to achieve the aim and objective of Abhiyan. He said the focus shall remain on the water conservation and its judicious use.
The DC instructed that each concerned department shall formulate an effective and inclusive plan for conservation of rain water and the same should be submitted within days, adding that a massive awareness campaign regarding Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) and allied activities shall continue across the district by involving PRIs, workers, Students, youth and NGOs in the district.
Elucidating the objective of the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign, the DC asserted that the District Administration is working on a multi-pronged strategy to preserve water in the district. “There is a growing need to sensitize the people about conservation and its judicious use, besides reducing water waste and to fully utilize and store rainwater in all probable storage sites through sensitization and awareness programmes involving local authorities” he added.
