PULWAMA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary today kick-started Chinar plantation drive by planting few Chinar saplings in the Public Park, here.
The Chinar plantation drive was organized by the Floriculture department, Pulwama.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the purpose of the drive is to enhance the green cover in the district and to create an eco-friendly environment. He said that Chinar being the heritage tree, around 250 Chinars shall be planted during the drive in the district.
Realizing the importance of Chinar trees, he stressed the involvement of every section of the society in Chinar plantation and also called for involvement in their conservation.
District Floriculture Officer besides other officials of the department were present on the occasion.
