KULGAM: Coordinated efforts with multipronged strategies to tackle the situation arising from the second wave of Covid-19 have shown desired results and the situation has improved in the district said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi Ud Din Bhat.

The DC while briefing the media about the present Covid situation in the district said that presently there are only 415 active positive cases in the district.

Regarding vaccination, the DC said that more than 80 percent population above the age group of 45years stands vaccinated besides vaccination for age group between 18-44 years of age have also been kick started.

Evening and Door to door vaccination drives are also being carried out to achieve the cent percent target, DC added.     

He also stated that to detect the person to have contracted covid infection, aggressive testing is being carried out on a daily basis.

The DC said that the recovery rate has shown significant improvement and presently the recovery rate is at 97 percent in the district.

He impressed upon all stakeholders and the general public to adhere to COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) during unlock to prevent any spike in infections. He also appealed to people to get vaccinated at an earliest and become covid mitigating agents.
