Covid positivity rate witnesses steep decline in district Kishtwar: DC

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma today said that the district has recorded a steep decline in the positivity rate this week.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing on the current Covid Care Scenario, a  major decline in  positive cases has been recorded for the first time after the 2nd surge.

“The number of recoveries (76) has outnumbered as only 45 positive cases have been reported this week,” he informed.

 He said that the Covid containment efforts continue in the district with rigorous testing and sampling.

He informed that 9597 testing were conducted this week as against the 8607 testing done in previous week.

He further informed  that District administration Kishtwar has taken various measures to ensure the cent percent vaccination of the population as vaccination is the only tool to safeguard the people from the   virus.

The vaccination of 45 yrs and above age bar has touched 93%, while 23% persons in the 18-44 yr age bar have also been vaccinated so far. The concerned have been asked to conduct special vaccination drives for Drivers and shopkeepers and in the congested areas, he added.

Lauding the dedicated efforts of frontline workers of Health, education, RDD, Police department besides PRIs, he said that district administration has succeeded in bringing the situation under control but at the same time ‘we cannot afford to lower our guard at this juncture.’
