Majority of 45+ population inoculated, 591 bed capacity created in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma today said that the district administration has created 591 bed-capacity and intensified vaccination and testing to combat covid pandemic amid the second wave.

Addressing a press conference here he briefed the media persons about the current Covid care Scenario and control and management  measures.

Responding to the media queries,, he said that random sampling and  testing is being conducted in the micro containment zones  at mass scale  to contain the spread. He said the administration is following testing contact tracing and data collection as major tools to contain the spread. “A total of 870 positive cases have been reported since March 1, 2021,of which 415 have recovered, 454 are still active and 04 with co-morbidity have died” he informed.

He further informed that at present 25 COVID positive patients are admitted in district hospital and 10  have been referred to Jammu for critical care, while others are in home isolation.

He informed that to effectively deal with the upsurge, the administration has notified 13 micro containment zones, which includes 26 hamlets.

“District administration has created a total 591 bed capacity in different hospitals and covid centres like DH Kishtwar, NHPC hospital Kishtwar, District police line Kishtwar, Girls hostel Chattoo, Paddar and Sarthal etc and efforts are being made to increase the capacity  further” he said.

Regarding medicare facilities, he said the district has a total of 175  D type and 167 B type Oxygen cylinders  to deal with any unprecedented situation.

He further informed that 347 COVID kits have been distributed among patients  in home isolation.

He further informed that major chunk of the population  above 45 years of age have been vaccinated, while the rest (24491 persons) will be  inoculated in a time bound manner. He  said an average of 50-100 RTPCR sampling and 700-800 RAT sampling per day is being done to keep tab on suspected cases.

He also informed that as per the directions of LG mopping  up/  door to door drive was conducted  to screen/identify the potential covid patients across the district and the data is being continuously updated on Swasth Nidhi App.
