DC Kishtwar conducts 2 day tour of Marwah, Warwan Blocks; Meets PRIs & locals

Reviews progress of ongoing developmental projects, functioning of newly established CCCs

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma conducted two day  extensive tour of far flung areas of Marwah and Warwan Blocks and took a firsthand appraisal of grievances of the locals and reviewed  the progress of work on under execution Developmental works, besides assessed the preparations in the area against COVID pandemic.

He was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer Kishtwar Development Authority (KDA), Inderjeet Singh Parihar; Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Kishore Singh Katoch; SDM Marwah, Dr. Mohsin Raza; ALC, Anoop Kumar; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ravinder Manhas; XEN PMGSY/R&B Marwah Sub Division Mohammad Aslam Lone; BMO Dachhan Anil Sharma, BDO Warwan besides concerned officers.

On the first day of tour, he inspected Inshan COVID Testing check point and directed SDM Marwah to ensure that every commuter entering the valley is tested before entering Warwan from Anantnag side to contain spread  of covid.

He also inspected newly established 5 bedded Panchayat Covid Care Centres at Higher Secondary School Afti Warwan. The CMO apprised him that all necessary medical equipment including bedding and medical kits have been put in place to cater to local COVID-19 patients, who don’t have isolation facility at home.

During the visit to Primary Health Centre Afti, Warwan , the DC took stock of the medical facility and vaccination availability. He directed the BMO Dacchan to ensure the 100% inoculation of 45 yr and above persons in the entire Marwah and Warwan area.

He also inspected PHC Aftti besides taking stock of facilities and medicines. He directed the CMO  to renovate the additional block of the building so that it is put to the use of the public on an immediate basis.

Meanwhile, he also interacted with DDC member Warwan Abdul Razak Lone & PRIs. They put forth several demands which includes installation of Jio towers in the area and making them functional on immediate basis, opening of Sinthan road for Marwah -Warwan people, repair of solar lights, making Block offices functional properly, Compensation for land acquired for PMGSY roads, holding of special camps for golden cards at Panchayat level, posting of doctors especially lady doctor in  PHC Afti and Warwan, ambulance facility for area, early start of MG-NREGA works,  making Revenue records available in tehsil office Warwan which are  kept in scanning centre at Kishtwar, motorable bridges at Afti, Margi and Basmina among others.

Giving patient hearing, the DC  said that the reason of his  personal visit to Marwah and Warwan Valley is to take the firsthand  assessment  of the suffering of the locals and  assured them that the issues projected will be redressed at the earliest.

Responding to the demands, the DC said that Jio towers are being installed in Marwah and Warwan and the whole valley shall get mobile connectivity within one month. He further added that the focus is on providing high speed Internet fibre connectivity to the area via Dachhan. He further announced that the Govt. is committed to provide all weather road connectivity to the area via Dachhan. “Soon a decision on the forest clearance shall be taken so that work on the road is started on an immediate basis,” he added. He further announced that the physical verification of labour cards for registration and renewal shall be done by concerned BDO and the labour card holders need not to visit Kishtwar for the same.  He also appealed to the people of the area to take vaccination for which SDM Marwah was asked to activate the surveillance teams.

On the issue of non availability of revenue records, he directed SDM Marwah to ensure availability of the Revenue records kept in the scanning centre at Kishtwar within one week.

The BDO Warwan was directed to ensure that MG-NREGA works are taken up immediately and only the works of public importance are undertaken and individual works are avoided.

Similarly on the second day, the DC held meeting with members of PRIs at Nowpachi  Marwah wherein they highlighted various demands, which included installation of Jio towers and making them functional on immediate basis, opening of Sinthan road for Marwah -Warwan people, making Block offices functional properly, Compensation of land acquired for PMGSY roads ,early start of MG-NREGA works ,macadamisation of various roads, development of tourism infrastructure, shortage of health staff, conducting  of IEC activities for COVID awareness, construction of filtration plant in Nowpachi, organising special camp for Aadhar generation among others.

He also reviewed the progress of work  on 50 bedded CHC-an Iconic project  for Marwah under PMDP. He directed XEn PWD to expedite the pace of work and complete the work before the onset of   winter season. He also directed XEN PWD(R&B) to keep provision of residential facilities for doctors in this CHC so that doctors can’t face problems of accommodation in these areas.

It was further directed to the SDM Marwah to review fortnightly the progress of the iconic projects and other works under execution in the area and submit the fortnightly report in his office.

Meanwhile he himself inspected the pace of work on the construction of the Jio tower at Nowapachi Marwah.

He also inspected the revenue complex Marwah and directed XEn  PwD to submit a proposal for construction of a mini Secretariat on the vacant land of this complex.

Further he visited the site identified for Government Degree College Marwah and directed SDM to revisit and complete the acquisition process immediately so that work on the project is started on an immediate basis.
