Panchayat level Isolation centres: PRI members of block Kishtwar oriented about their role

KISHTWAR: An orientation programme was held today to educate the elected PRI members of block Kishtwar about their role and responsibilities in the establishment and functioning of 5 bedded isolation centres at Panchayat level.

 The event was chaired by Deputy Commissioner,  Ashok Sharma and attended by BDC Chairman block Kishtwar, Suresh Sharma; Assistant Commissioner (R) Kishtwar, Akhter Hussain Qazi;  Assistant Commissioner (D)   Kishore Singh Katoch;  Chief Medical Officer, Dr R S Manhas; Block Development Officer Kishtwar, Sheetal Sharma besides sarpanchs  and panchs of the block.

The CMO apprised the participants about the current COVID  Scenario  in the district in general and in  the block Kishtwar in particular.

In his address, the DC said that on the instruction of LG, J&K Manoj Sinha, the district administration has initiated the process of establishment of 5 bedded isolation centres at the Panchayat level as a measure to tackle covid cases in rural areas. He said that against a total 236 Panchayats, isolation centres have been established in 95 and the process is on to cover all Panchayats.

He informed that these isolation centres will have one oxygen supported bed and are meant for those patients who do not have the isolation facility at their homes.

He further informed that Rs 1 lakh have been dedicated for the purpose out of the district Capex budget.

The establishment of these centres will be monitored by the PRIs, which include the sarpanchs and panchs of that respective Panchayat. He urged the Sarpanchs and other PRIs to play an active role in the establishment and operationalisation of these centres at each centre for the earliest completion of the same.

The DC further informed that the process for the establishment of the 5 bedded CC centre is going on in full swing in all the 12 panchayats of block Kishtwar and the same will be completed within a few days.

In this regard he urged all the sarpanches and panches to  actively participate in the mobilisation of men,material and other resources in the establishment of isolation centres at the identified places in coordination with the concerned agencies.

Laying stress on the cent percent vaccination of the target groups, he urged PRIs to educate the people  in this regard, he added that district administration is ramping up the pace of Vaccination in the district.
