DC Jammu finalises I-day arrangements

JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg today convened a meeting to finalize arrangements for Independence Day celebrations in the district.

ADC Ghanshyam Singh; ADC Satish Sharma; Joint Director Information Jammu Namrita Dogra; ACG Rakesh Dubey besides senior officers from Security, Traffic, PHE, Hospitality and Protocol, Health along with other officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.

The meeting held threadbare discussions on arrangements to be put in place at the venue for the National function, including security, seating, transportation, parking, electricity, refreshment, medicare, availability of ambulance, deployment of fire tenders and sanitation measures.

The meeting was informed that the main function of the celebrations will be held at M.A Stadium, where the chief guest would unfurl the National Flag, followed by inspection of the parade.

It was decided that march-past will be presented by contingents of JKP, CRPF, Fire and Emergency, Forest Protection Force, Police Band and a colorful cultural programme will also be held on the occasion.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized upon all the officers for smooth and successful conduct of I-Day celebrations.

The meeting also decided that in view of Covid-19 pandemic no one will be allowed to enter the premises of the venue without the face mask.

The Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the concerned officials to ensure compliance of appropriate Covid behavior and implementation of SOPs regarding Covid-19. He also directed the health department to deploy Medical teams along with ambulance facilities to meet any eventuality.

The celebrations on the day will begin with the playing of Shahnai Vadan and patriotic songs by the Information Department in the wee hours.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements related to security, sanitation, seating, barricading, water supply, power supply, issuance of invitation cards, transportation and illumination of important buildings etc on Independence Day.

The DC also instructed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted drinking water and power supplies at the venue on the day of I-Day celebrations. He also directed for proper illumination of buildings and institutions.

Officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation were directed by the Deputy Commissioner to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of the main venue and town.
