DC Ganderbal holds interaction with religious leaders

 Seeks cooperation in implementation of Covid SOPs during Eid-ul-Adha

GANDERBAL: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna today held a meeting with prominent religious leaders, Imams and Khateebs of the district at the Conference Hall of the mini-secretariat here.

During the meeting, the DC urged upon all the stakeholders to ensure strict adherence of Covid-19 related SOPs at religious places and markets during the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

While interacting with the religious leaders, the DC said that Eid prayers shall be allowed only in local mosques of the district and no congregational prayers shall be allowed in major mosques/Eidgah of the district on forthcoming Eid-ul-Adha as a precautionary measure to overcome the resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic.

She appealed to religious leaders to ensure a limited number of people assemble in local mosques for Eid prayers with proper adherence to SOPs in and outside the mosques adding that fresh guidelines issued by the UT Govt. regarding religious and social gatherings during festivals shall be implemented in letter and spirit. 

While briefing the clerics about the measures to be taken for peaceful celebration of festivity, the DC said though district administration has taken all strict measures in efforts to break the chain of its transmission but it is responsibility of the people to cooperate with the district administration and assist it in its efforts as they show cooperation by way of adhering to the related advisories as usual.

She further urged other religious clerics of the district to become administration’s messengers and sensitize the general public about the importance of social distancing and other precautions in these difficult times.

While urging people to offer prayers on forthcoming Eid under strict observance of Covid Appropriate Behavior, the DC said that holding Covid Appropriate Behavior and other SOPs should be taken as a social responsibility and all stakeholders need to adopt it as a part of their lifestyle.

Among others, the meeting was also attended by SSP Ganderbal, Suhail Munawar Mir, ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, SDM Kangan, all Tehsildars and other concerned.
