DC Budgam reviews progress of banks for ODOP cases

BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today chaired a meeting convened here to review the progress achieved on One District One Product (ODOP) by Various Banks and branches operating in the district.

It was revealed in the meeting that 30 ODOP cases pertaining to young aspiring entrepreneurs have been sent to various Banks in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that hand holding of youth by banks and line departments is critical to uplift socio-economic status of job aspiring youth.

Outlining the importance of ODOP, the DC said that district Budgam has 6 lac liters milk production per day and this huge resource shall be properly channelized so as to open new avenues of self employment in the district.

He urged aspiring entrepreneurs to diversify their economic activities by setting up various Milk processing units and manufacturing of other dairy products.

Taking strong note of some laxity shown by some banks in sanctioning ODOP cases, the DC said that strict action as warranted under rules shall be initiated. He further instructed all concerned to ensure all pending cases related to ODOP are sanctioned within one week time.

There shall be another review meeting after one week on progress achieved, the DC added.

On the occasion, the DC interacted with aspiring entrepreneurs, took feedback from them and listened to the issues and queries pertaining to sponsoring and sanctioning of ODOP cases.

The DC also instructed the concerned to hold an exposure visit for the aspiring entrepreneurs so that they get an idea about the know-how related to machinery and Milk processing plants.
