DC Budgam dedicates State of the Art Truenat Quattro Machine to District TB Centre, Budgam

Facility to provide faster & more accurate diagnostic results in cases of TB, Malaria, Hepatititis

BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam, Akshay Labroo today dedicated a first of its kind 4-Model Truenat Quattro machine to District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC), Budgam.

The machine was sanctioned  under District funds to improve diagnostics in the District. The machine is used for diagnosis of TB, Hepatitis, Malaria, HIV etc by molecular technology as well as tests for drug resistance (Rifampicin).

Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the facility will enhance and improve healthcare and patients would get largely benefitted, without waiting for long time for diagnosis.

He said that the district administration is committed to improve patient care in all capacities and efforts are on to equip our health  Institutions with latest and modern machinery and facilities across the District.

The DC appreciated the District Tuberculosis Officer for timely projection for the important machinery and for its timely installation  at the DTC, Budgam. He encouraged health authorities to ensure timely procurement and installation of all other sanctioned health equipment and machinery at other health facilities also. 

The Truenat Machine  gives result in one hour and all the tests are done free of cost to the patients with Tuberculosis symptoms.

State TB Officer, Dr Adfar said that  this is the first Quattro machine in the UT and added that till now we had only DUO model of the machine.

 She said that it gives faster result and is more accurate than microscopy. 

“Diagnosis as well as testing for drug resistance under takes two hours. Faster diagnosis and initiation of treatment is the key to elimination of this chronic  ailment”, she said.

Later, DC also inspected Truenat, CBNAAT, OPD, X-Ray plant and other facilities. 

Among others, Deputy Director, Dentistry Headquarter, Dr Jahanzeb, State TB Officer, Dr Adfar CMO Budgam, Dr. Ayoub Fateh, Medical Superintendent DH Budgam, Dr Iqbal and others were also present on the occasion.
