DC B’gam holds Public interaction programme at Arath, Budgam

BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza accompanied by District and Sectoral Officers today visited Arath, Budgam to take firsthand appraisal of grievances faced by public and status of other welfare schemes.

During the visit a public interaction programme was conducted at the lawns of Government Boys High School Arath where apart from locals a huge presence of public from adjoining areas was also witnessed.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC reiterated that the visit shall prove result oriented as all officers of concerned departments are present and have the opportunity to get feedback and appraisal of all issues relating to their departments.

He assured that basic issues raised during Public Darbar including improvement of roads, drinking water supply, upgradation of educational institutions shall be looked into thoroughly.

The DDC was informed that a Water Supply Scheme for the Arath and adjacent villages under Jal Jeevan Mission has been approved to mitigate water supply scarcity.

Mirza instructed Ex. Engineer I&FC to ensure desilting of canals to redress the issue of water logging in wetland besides formulation of action plan for dewatering of Agricultural areas during rainy days.

Similarly, he also instructed Ex. Engineer R&B to ensure macadamisation of remaining roads at an earliest.

The DDC appealed to the public to come forward and lodge complaints against brick kiln owners violating government approved rates and selling bricks at exorbitant rates.

He also urged the youth of the area to participate in the sanitation and cleanliness drive of the locality and keep surroundings clean.

Responding to other public demands and issues, the DDC assured that all issues put forth by the public have been recorded and listed by all concerned.

He further added that there are clear instruction to all District/Sectoral officers  that  whatever issues  relating to demands /grievances they can address under their authority shall be mitigated on fast track basis, avoid unnecessary prolonging  and delay  taking into consideration that short span of working period is left keeping in view  impending winter season.

The day-long Public interaction programme was also attended by BDC Chairman Narbal Zahoor Ahmad, GM DIC, DPO ICDS, CMO, CEO, ACD, DSWO,  DYSSO, Ex. Engineers R&B, I&FC, PDD and BDO besides other officers and officials concerned.
