DC Bandipora holds Public Interaction Programme at Brar; reviews developmental activities

BANDIPORA: Continuing with Block Diwas initiatives of Lieutenant Governor Administration, special public grievance redressal camps were held across Bandipora district on Wednesday to get the first hand appraisal of the issues faced by the public.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad conducted an extensive tour of Brar and adjacent villages  and presided over a Public Grievance Redressal Camp  which witnessed large participation of people.

He was accompanied by Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Ex. Engineer R&B, officers from police and line departments.

Locals on the occasion raised several issues of public interest and sought intervention of the Deputy Commissioner for early redressal. Apart from other issues people stressed on renovation of road connectivity up to Baba Dawood Khaki Shrine, renovation of road connectivity to JNV and early execution of construction of JNV project besides other issues including several inter-departmental issues.

DDC Members  Firdousa Akhtar and Dr Mustafa, BDC Chairperson, PRI representatives, Public delegations and scores of individuals projected various issues and demands before the Deputy Commissioner.

After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC sought on-spot response from the concerned Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp. He also assured people that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be taken up on priority. He also passed on spot directions for the resolutions of various issues while several committees and joint teams were constituted to resolve issues raised by the people during the program.

Dr Owais also reviewed developmental activities in the area and urged the officers concerned to expedite works with improvement in weather so that the same can be completed at earliest. He also directed officers of the Rural Development Department to generate more man days under MGNREGA to provide jobs to unskilled and unemployed youth of the area.

Addressing the gathering, the DC urged people to be part of the decision making process by actively participating in Gram Sabhas. He also appealed to people to participate in the block diwas to put forward their grievances.
