DDC Anantnag visits far flung areas of the district, holds Public Darbars at Shangus, Nowgam

Stresses for strict monitoring on District Capex works

ANANTNAG: District Development Commissioner, Anantnag Dr. Piyush Singla today visited Shangus, Nowgam, Chattabal and other far flung areas of the district, during which he was accompanied by district and sectoral officers.

The DDC held Public/Awami Darbars at Shangus and Nowgam where local people alongwith their representatives including DDCs, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanches and other PRI members besides prominent civil society and Auqaf committee members participated. 

Addressing the gatherings at both places, the DDC said that administration is committed to provide transparent and accessible governance to the people besides prompt redressal of their grievances and demands. He said that it is heartening to see the local people making and implementing plans in tune with their aspirations of development and welfare. 

Dr. Singla said that more than 1700 locally planned development works are being taken up in all Panchayats under District Capex maintaining the PRIs should strictly monitor those for their quality and timely completion.

The DDC called upon the senior citizens of the area to compliment the efforts of authorities in curbing drug menace among the youth adding families and society have vital role to play in this regard. He said Youth Clubs and Playfields coming up at Panchayat, village and ward levels will have significant effect on empowerment of youth besides utilising their energy and talent in constructive and rewarding fields. 

Dr. Singla said the Independence Day has great significance and a host of activities like Safayi Abhiyans, Singing Competitions etc are being taken in runup to the ensuing National Event across the district. He said that completed and new works will be respectively inaugurated and started in Panchayats on the eve of Independence Day.

On the occasion, several demands were raised which include provision of water supply to upper areas, macadamisation and maintenance of interior roads, enhancing staff facilities at SDH Shangus, Veterinary Hospital for the area etc. 

The DDC issued on spot directions for redressal of certain demands and assured other genuine demands will be fulfilled in due course of time. 

The Darbars were also attended by DDC Member and BDC Chairperson Shangus, CPO, ACD, ACR, Exens PHE, PDD, PMGSY, BDO and Tehsildar Shangus besides other officials.

On the occasion, Eidgah and Public Parks at Shangus and Nowgam were inaugurated besides foundation stone for flood channel at Shangus was also laid.

During inspection of under-construction Regional Water Supply Scheme Shangus, the DDC issued on spot directions to PHE officers for speeding up the pace of work so that it is completed and put to public use in a time bound manner. 

Later, the DDC visited the tourist spot Chattabal where he directed the concerned officers to develop a parking area besides install toilet facilities there. He also stressed for conducting regular cleanliness drives and erecting banners and posters for disseminating awareness about cleanliness and waste management among the visitors.
